Overview

Joseon was more than a new kingdom founded by a new ruler. A new dynasty required a new order—one that defined the relationship between heaven and earth, king and people, capital and palace. The Cosmic Genesis of Joseon explores the founding of the dynasty beyond the usual chronology of kings, battles, and political events. Through Confucian thought, cosmology, royal symbolism, orientation, and spatial design, the tour examines how Joseon attempted to build an entire political and symbolic world around its new capital and monarchy.

Description

Every civilization that looked toward the sky asked the same question: is the universe chaos, or is there an order behind it? Joseon answered with order — and for the founders of a brand-new dynasty in 1392, that answer wasn't just philosophy. It was survival. A kingdom born from the collapse of another needed proof
